Statement of Principles of the
Socialist Party of Florida
Our government is controlled by two political parties that do little to enact major change in our society. Because of this lack of responsiveness and the promotion of capitalistic economic and social policies, many are marginalized and oppressed in a
system where only a few individuals control the distribution of goods and services and the means of production. The Socialist
Party of Florida calls for a democratic socialist Sunshine State that is dedicated to a just economy, equality, and adequate housing, food, education, and health care.
Florida's history is peppered with discrimination and little concern for social justice. To this end, the Socialist Party of
Florida abhors discrimination on the basis of race, gender, age, sexual orientation, religious choice, physical
ability/disability, immigrant status, or national origin. A truly democratic society requires that all persons share equally in
the democratization of Florida's social, economic, and political institiutions. We invite you to join us.
